Custom Concrete Contracting recently completed a residential aggregate patio project located in the South Hill neighborhood of Bellingham.
While the home was fairly new construction, built within the last few years, the homeowners wanted to make areas behind the house more usable.
This backyard project was a perfect fit for Custom Concrete’s ACI Certified Flatwork Finishers who are experienced with handling concrete framing, pouring and finishing with a variety of texture options.
The existing gravel surface was perfect for a concrete patio. The construction sequence started with the removal of surface gravel, bark and dirt to make way for the pouring of aggregate concrete.
As shown below, you can see the difference! A cleaner, more usable space was created that will last for decades.
Soil and gravel can be removed and replaced with concrete surfaces to increase usability of an area while also reducing landscape maintenance time.
CCC’s team then began installation of a wide sidewalk and patio seating area. Stairs that led to a backyard grassy area were tied into a small patch of older concrete–our crews added new exposed aggregate concrete that was designed to match existing concrete. The end result was a seamless blending of old and new surfaces.
Aggregate is the sand and gravel part of the concrete mix. It’s what cement bonds to, and it gives concrete substance and strength.
The homeowners love their new outdoor living space–the patio, sidewalk and stairs are now a functioning and aesthetic upgrade to the backyard and overall home value.
If your home’s garden areas need updating, or if you’d like to expand existing concrete patio areas, call Custom Concrete Contracting. We’d be happy to brainstorm ideas and create something functional and beautiful what will work best for your home.
